Is it safe to connect my email to Rampart?
Only connect your email to Rampart if you understand what the access is for and you are comfortable with it.
The reason to connect Gmail or Outlook is phishing protection: suspicious senders, wrong domains, fake invoices, risky attachments, account warnings, and messages that do not match the company they claim to be from.
It should not be for ads. It should not be for selling inbox data. It should not let family members read your email.
What Rampart uses email access for
Rampart email protection is intended to look for phishing signals, such as:
- Lookalike domains.
- Unexpected invoice attachments.
- Strange sender names.
- Urgent bank or account warnings.
- Fake delivery or tax messages.
- Links that do not match the claimed company.
The useful question is:
Does this message match reality, or is it trying to push me through a fake route?
What family members should not see
Family Check-in should not show:
- Email body text.
- Subject lines.
- Senders.
- Attachments.
- Inbox activity.
- Message history.
The family feature should be a protection status, not a viewing window.
Why email protection matters
Scams often move between channels.
A fake bank SMS may lead to a fake support email. A fake invoice email may lead to a text. A social media DM may send a Gmail attachment. A phone call may end with a payment link.
CISA describes phishing as social engineering that tries to make people click, download, reply, log in, or pay. Email is still one of the easiest places for that to happen.
What to check before connecting any email security app
